Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
On the night of January 9, a joint operation between STF Kolkata Police, STF Bihar, and Khutauna Police led to the discovery of an illegal mini gun factory in Madhubani district, Bihar. The operation was initiated based on intelligence gathered by STF Kolkata. The raid targeted a shop named 'Kishan Auto Parts,' located in Khutauna Bazar under Khutauna Police Station, where authorities uncovered an active mini gun manufacturing operation.
During the search, law enforcement officers recovered multiple firearm components, including 24 pieces of 7mm pistol bodies, 24 pieces of 7mm pistol barrels, and three 7mm pistol sliders. Police also seized various machines essential for firearms production, including a lathe machine, a milling machine, two drilling machines, a grinding machine, and a welding machine. In addition to the machinery, a significant quantity of raw materials and other tools used in the manufacturing of improvised firearms was found at the premises.
Three individuals were arrested during the raid: Ishteyaque Alam (38), Iftekhar Alam (35), and Rajkumar Chowdhury (30). The Alam brothers, Ishteyaque and Iftekhar, are identified as the owners of the 'Kishan Auto Parts' shop, while Rajkumar Chowdhury, also known as Birju, is reportedly the skilled worker and mastermind behind the illegal firearms manufacturing operation. Chowdhury is believed to have played a crucial role in the setup and functioning of the mini gun factory.
Following the raid at Kishan Auto Parts, police led another operation at the residence of Raju Kumar Sah (22) in the village of Jhanjpatti, Khutauna. This raid uncovered another illegal mini gun factory inside his house. Items recovered from this location included 24 pieces of 7mm pistol butt grips, one milling machine, one grinding machine, one drilling machine, along with a large amount of raw materials and tools used for the production of firearms.
A case under the Arms Act has been registered at Khutauna Police Station in relation to the illegal firearms manufacturing operation. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities working to identify any potential links to larger criminal networks involved in the distribution of illegal firearms. The operation has brought to light a significant illegal firearms production operation in the region, and authorities are focused on disrupting and dismantling the network involved in these activities.
